Q. Need additional medical treatment AFTER your emergency room visit?

A. The Federal Employees Compensation Act (FECA) provides for ALL injured Federal employees are entitled to select their own treating physician.

Q: In order to obtain Authorization to see your physician following a Traumatic Injury you MUST request Form CA-16 (Authorization for Medical Treatment) from the Agency with 7 days of your Date of Injury.

A: You MUST seek medical treatment from an OWCP credentialed physician.

Q: How do I get Paid?  

A: IF you are on NO WORK medical restriction status following an injury you are entitled to Continuation of Pay for up to 45 days.

Q: U.S. Department of Labor has sent me an inquiry letter regarding my Job-related injury. They informed me that the Agency that I work for has controverted my claim.

What does this really mean?   How do I respond?  What do I say?

A: First you want to obtain a copy of the controversial letter (if the Agency did not provide a copy to you, you can obtain a copy from the ECOMP Dashboard).

Q: I am unable to obtain medical therapy, diagnostic testing done because OWCP has not approved my claim yet. However, OWCP has requested these test(s) be performed but they have not approved them.

A: Contact will need to be made with OWCP explaining what is needed in order to collect the requested objective diagnostic testing (X-Ray, MRI, etc.) by OWCP.
